Gates of Mekelle #36
Some lovely green foliage hangs down in front of this gate providing some much-needed shade and inviting the viewer to imagine there is a secret garden waiting to be explored on the other side.
Chicago – James R. Thompson Center
Originally the State of Illinois Center, this building is located in the loop district of Chicago. It houses the offices of the Illinois state government. It is considered one of the most significant postmodern buildings in Chicago.

The beautiful blooming tree is casting a wonderful organic shadow across the gate. The shadow contrasts beautifully with the rigid repeating vertical pattern of the gate.

In my on-going Gates of Mekelle series with #33 we see that the gates are easily transformed into billboards and signs with some paint and creativity.
National Women’s Day 2019
This is a picture of my wife Tracy from back in 2005. I was able to convince her to spend one year living out of a backpack while sleeping in hostels, trains and buses. There is no one else I would have rather been with.
